In St Irene Orthodox Mission Center & Orphanage, little children playing in the field and learning group meeting. The adorable little faces and their actions are so captivating I at times get momentarily distracted from the business at hand, including questions I wanted to ask the kids at St Irene Orthodox Mission Center & Orphanage. This familiar Bible verse from the Gospels comes to mind.

People were bringing even infants to him that he might touch them… Jesus called for them and said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not stop them; for it is to such as these that the kingdom of God belongs.”

— Luke 18:15-16 NRSV

visit to an Orphanage is a life-changing experience as it is filled with emotions and sentiments.  We were lucky to get an opportunity to be visited by His Eminence Archbishop Makarios at our mission center.

He had brought food and gave words of encouragements to the kids.

After visiting the orphanage you start appreciating the little things in life when you see people who don’t have them. Only at such times do you tide over the insignificant and immaterial things and appreciate the bigger picture.
