Celebrating St. Irene’s Name Day at St. Irene Orthodox Mission Centre & Orphanage
Today, we rejoice in the blessed feast of St. Irene the Great Martyr, whose name graces our Mission Centre and Orphanage. Her life was a radiant witness of courage, faith, and unwavering love for Christ a legacy that continues to inspire our children, caregivers, and community.
The Spirit of St. Irene

St. Irene’s story is one of steadfast devotion. She endured trials and persecution, yet her faith remained unshaken. At our Mission Centre, we see her example reflected in the resilience of our children many of whom have faced hardship, yet rise each day with hope, joy, and trust in God’s providence.
A Living Mission
On this Name Day, we honor St. Irene not only with prayers but also through action. Her witness calls us to serve with humility and compassion. At the orphanage, this means:
- Providing daily meals that nourish both body and soul
- Shelter and Dormitory Care
- Clothing and Uniform Support
- Education and School Supplies
- Mentorship and Tutoring Programs
- Healthcare and Medical Assistance
- Spiritual Care and Catechism
- Community Outreach and Counseling
- Creative Arts and Skills Development
- Sports and Recreational Activities
A Day of Thanksgiving
Today, our chapel is filled with hymns of gratitude. The children have prepared songs and prayers, lifting their voices in thanksgiving for the protection and intercession of St. Irene. It is a day of joy, fellowship, and renewed commitment to the mission entrusted to us.
