Supporting the Treatment of Taisia and Joseph
A Call for Compassion and Action
At St. Irene Orthodox Mission Centre and Orphanage, we take pride in caring for the vulnerable, providing for their physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being. Today, I visited Taisia and Joseph, two beautiful souls currently hospitalized due to severe burns from a tragic accident involving a hot tea pot. I had the opportunity to offer prayers and anoint them for the healing of their souls and bodies.
Though they recently joined our St. Irene family, they have not yet been able to reside at the orphanage due to limited boarding facilities. Both children are under our foster home program, which provides for all their basic needs even though they spend nights away from our center.
A Financial Burden Beyond Our Means
The hospital bill for Taisia and Joseph has reached USD 1,500.00, a significant financial burden that I currently bear alone. While I firmly believe that God will provide, I humbly reach out to ask for your support. Any contribution, big or small, will make a difference in the lives of these children. Preventing Future Accidents Through Awareness and Action
This tragic incident also highlights the importance of preventative measures to ensure the safety of our children. We are committed to training the foster families in our program to take extra precautions when caring for these vulnerable children. Simple changes in how households handle hot items or risky situations can make a significant difference in preventing such accidents.
A Long-Term Vision for Safety: Expanding Our Facilities
A more sustainable solution to ensuring the safety of the children is the completion of our dormitory facilities at St. Irene’s. With this, we will be able to accommodate all the children within the orphanage, where they will be under direct care and supervision. This will not only provide them with a safer environment but also foster a sense of belonging and community that every child deserves.
