This Holy Week, Be a Blessing to a Child in St Irene Orthodox Mission Centre and Orphanage
Dear Beloved in Christ,
Greetings in the name of the Holy Trinity. As we navigate this sacred Holy Week—a crucial time for profound reflection on the love of Christ, who selflessly laid down His life for us—we must remember His command to love not just in words, but through our actions. It is imperative that we embody this love actively and meaningfully.
In many parts of Africa, especially here at home, the reality of life is far from easy. Poverty is not just a statistic — it is a child who goes to bed hungry. It is a mother who cannot afford a pair of shoes for her little one. It is a classroom with no books, and a home with no light.
And yet, in the midst of this struggle, there is hope. There is faith. There are children at St. Irene’s who still smile, still pray, and still believe that someone, somewhere, will remember them.
This Holy Week, we invite you to be that person who makes a difference.
Let your act of almsgiving — your gift of love — be the miracle they are praying for.
Let them know that they are not forgotten, that they are loved, that Christ is alive — and working through people like you.
As we prepare to celebrate the resurrection of our Savior, may we rise with Him in compassion and generosity. May we bring joy to those who have known too much sorrow. May we give these children a reason to smile this Easter.
Let us celebrate with them. Feed them. Clothe them. Love them.
No gift is too small when given from the heart.
Thank you for being Christ’s hands and heart in the world. May your Holy Week be blessed, and your Easter be full of the joy that only love can bring.
With gratitude and faith,
Fr Constantinos Eliud Muthiru,
Fr in charge and Director,
