Give, Even If You Have a Little

By Fr Constantinos Eliud

A Heart That Gives, No Matter How Little

At St. Irene Orthodox Mission Centre and Orphanage, we often encounter the quiet power of compassion shown in the simplest ways. Many believe that giving requires wealth, but we have learned that the most meaningful acts of charity often come from those with very little. These are the gifts that move hearts and change lives.

The Beauty of Small Sacrifices

Time and again, we have seen people give not from abundance, but from the depth of their hearts—a widow offering a portion of her daily meal, or a schoolchild sharing a precious pencil. These moments reveal the true spirit of generosity: one that does not measure the gift, but values the love behind it.

A Gospel Truth in Action

The Scriptures remind us of the widow who gave two small coins—everything she had. Jesus praised her, not for the amount, but for the sacrifice (Luke 21:1–4). Here at St. Irene, we witness this gospel truth lived out daily in the humble gestures of those who choose to care.

Giving Life, Hope, and Love

Our orphanage is home to children who have known deep pain—orphans, the abandoned, and the vulnerable. With God’s help and the kindness of supporters like you, we offer them food, shelter, education, and most importantly, love. Every small gift helps us keep these children safe and give them a reason to smile.

Your Little Can Mean Everything

You may feel that your contribution is too small to make a difference—but in reality, your little may be the answer to someone’s prayer. Giving is not about wealth; it is about willingness. It is about believing that every act of love, no matter how small, matters.

A Call to Faithful Giving

We invite you to be part of this mission. Don’t wait for excess—give now, with whatever you can. Whether it’s a loaf of bread, a used uniform, or a prayer, your offering will be multiplied through God’s grace.

Give, even if you have a little. Because in love, nothing is ever too small.
