As November draws to a close and many of our friends around the world gather for Thanksgiving, we at St. Irene Orthodox Mission Centre & Orphanage pause to give thanks as well: first to God, from whom every good gift comes, and then to every friend whose kindness keeps food on our children’s plates.
Every day here in South Kinangop, our children sit down to a warm meal. For many of them, it is the only food they can count on. Because of your support, 352 children receive three meals every day at the mission. That is not a small thing. It is health, strength to learn, and the quiet assurance that someone cares.
A table set by many hands
Our feeding programme is one of the oldest and most important parts of life at the mission. Each meal is prepared and served with love, and for a growing child it means the energy to sit in class, to play, to pray and to grow. Mealtime is also family time: the children sit together, share together and give thanks together.

Share a Thanksgiving meal with a child
As we journey through the Nativity Fast and prepare our hearts for the coming of Christ, we invite you to share a Thanksgiving meal with a child. Every gift, large or small, goes straight to the children’s care, and 92.8% of donations go directly to our service projects.
If you would like to walk with one child all year, you can also become a monthly sponsor. A sponsor helps provide food, clothing, education, healthcare and loving care, and receives updates on the child they support.
A Thanksgiving Prayer
O Lord, giver of every good thing,
we thank You for the bread on our table,
for the hands that prepare it,
and for the friends whose love provides it.
Bless every heart that gives,
fill every child who hungers,
and keep us always thankful. Amen.
Thank you for being part of this family. Please keep our children in your prayers, as we keep you in ours.
With gratitude in Christ,
Fr. Constantinos Eliud
Priest in Charge & Director, St. Irene Orthodox Mission Centre & Orphanage
